Here at ChefSteps, we love barbecue. From traditional smoked ’cue to indoor sous vide and oven cooking methods, we’ve always strived to make great at-home barbecue achievable for everyone. So where do we go next? We decided to go all-in on spices, partnering with our Pike Place neighbors at World Spice to develop three signature barbecue rubs and an innovative new product to help achieve crunchy bark without the need for a smoker.

Along with sourcing the freshest and highest quality spices around, the folks at World Spice have added an extra unique layer of flavor to each rub by cold-smoking the spices with wood from the rub’s region of influence—mesquite for the Texas rub, pecan for Kansas City, and post oak for our Carolina Gold.
World Spice Merchants began as a sole proprietorship in 1995 and remains a small family business today. Their Flagship store adjacent to Seattle’s Pike Place Market is a thriving hub of flavor exploration, offering over 300 selections of pure herbs and spices, handcrafted blends and estate teas.
